Kevin
has 20 years experience in Oregon viticulture
and co-owns Resonance Vineyard and Winery. He is
a life-long learner, with a dedicated interest
in soil and plant nutrition and health.
Kevin has a Bachelors from the University of
Oregon and serves as past-president of the
following organizations: Oregon Wine Board (oregonwine.org),
the Oregon Vineyard Industry Database (ovd.us),
the Oregon Winegrowers
Association (OWA),
and the Trust for Oregon Wine Education and
Research. He is the recipient of the Oregon
Winegrowers Association "Retailer of the Year,"
and was named the Oregon Wine Industry "Man of
the Year" in 2006.
Joe Kupillas
Nursery
Industry Manager &
Corporate Marketing Manager
Joe is expanding the bridge of service
to the nursery industry through the
resources and solutions oriented culture
at OVS. Two broad categories of emphasis
include nursery-crop nutritional
efficiency and nursery-specific
equipment solutions (potting systems,
soil mixing systems and product transfer
components).
Joe created and chairs the Container
Nursery Efficiency Forum (CNEF)that meets
quarterly to improve the efficiency of
nursery production. Joe has worked
extensively in the nursery industry
since the early 1980's and was the
General Manager of a 50-acre container
production nursery for 12 years before
joining OVS in the fall of 2005. Joe
served on the Oregon Association of
Nurseries' executive committee and
continues to serve the state association
in different roles. Joe also is a member
of the Clackamas Community college
Horticulture department's advisory
board. Joe holds an A.S. degree from
Clackamas Community College and a
Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from
Oregon State University.
Wade Schirmer
Crop Consultant
Wade has been a crop consultant in the
Willamette Valley for 19 years. His
college degree is in Horticulture Crop
Production from Oregon State University
and he is an Oregon Certified Crop
Consultant.
Wade has specialized in Willamette
Valley horticultural and agricultural
crops including, but not limited to:
peppermint, row crops, nuts, berries,
grass seed, and wheat. He is currently
involved in working with growers to help
establish Organic Acid based fertilizer
programs.

Ken Wessels
Assistant Ag Supplies Manager
& Fertilizer Plant Manager
Ken
has over 25 years experience in Ag related
businesses, including liquid and dry fertilizer
blending, storage and handling. He currently
oversees the efforts of the OVS Agronomic Team.
Ken
holds an ODA Commercial Applicators license and
has received Sandlers Institute Sales Training,
and is the recipient of the Dale Carnegie Award
for Excellence and the Breaking Out Award. He
has a Bachelor of Science in Business
Management.
Mark Gibbs
Crop
Consultant
Mark handles chemical and nutrient
purchasing for both OVS and ProTurf
Solutions. He is an OVS Crop Consultant
specializing in Wine Grapes and
Hazelnuts. He's been an OVS employee
since 1986. Mark serves the local
agricultural community through
professional membership on the L.I.V.E.
Technical Committee, the Chemeketa
Community College Viticulture Advisory
Board and the Oregon Hazelnut
Commission.
Mark has a Bachelors Degree in
Horticulture and IPM from Michigan State
University, 1980. He also holds an
Oregon
Crop consultants license.
Jeff Flake
Crop Consultant
Jeff
has worked in the agricultural industry
since 1987. He started his career with
Dow AgroSciences working laboratory,
greenhouse and field station facilities
to develop new agrichemicals.
He has 7 years experience as a forage
crop research specialist for the State
of Wyoming.
Jeff is currently focused on improving
the yield and quality of Willamette
Valley nut and berry crops. Jeff has a
Bachelors degree in crop science from
the University of Wyoming and a Masters
in crop and weed science from North
Dakota State University. Jeff holds his
Pesticide Consultant's License with the
Oregon Department of Agriculture and is
a regular participant in the Oregon
Berry Commissions.
Gary Willis
Turf Consultant
Gary has a 16 year history in Turf
Management Services. He was the Regional
Sales Manager for Seed Research of
Oregon and founded the Professional Turf
Center in 1992.
In early 2007, the business was
purchased by OVS. Gary continues as a
turf consultant to golf courses,
municipalities, parks, landscapers and
residential clients throughout Oregon
and Washington.
