OVS offers PGG seed from IOKA Farms.  Five different seed blends are stocked in the OVS warehouses with nine additional blends available by special order.

DriveRow is a perennial grass cover crop. It’s 20% creeping Red Fescue and 80% Perennial Ryegrass.  These turf types are slow growing grasses. This cover crop will do a great job of building up a tough turf that will withstand equipment, even during the wet times of the year. DriveRow also requires less mowing and water in the summer. As low as 30# per acre will establish a 100% stand, but faster results and better weed suppression  may be achieved at higher seeding rates (50# per acre).

VineMate is a combination of three grasses that will establish quickly to prevent erosion and build up the nitrogen in the soil. It’s a combination of 80% Gala Brome, 15% Henry Hard Fescue and 5% Plantain. The Plantain supplies a quick establishing tap root to break up compacted soil. This low grower provides high biomass and mineral accumulation. VineMate requires little water and will provide a tough base for equipment while preventing the soil from becoming compacted.  The grasses are well established in the first year.  (25-50# per acre).  

Wheat is an economical solution to providing erosion control. It germinates at low temperatures. Plan to plow it under in the spring.  (70-90# per acre).

OVS stocks three blends of biomass seed. All are nitrogen fixing, provide erosion control and are designed to plowdown. Each seeds at 50-80# per acre.

• Biomass Builder 2 includes 40% Austrian Winter Peas, 30% Cereal Rye, 10% Faba Beans, 5% Crimson Clover, 5% Annual Rye and 10% Common Vetch. 

• Biomass Builder Economy includes 40% wheat, 30% Faba beans and 30% Austria Winter peas.

• Biomass Builder 3 consists of 30% Oats, 30% Peas, 10% Faba Beans, 10% Buckwheat (for phosphorus accumulation), 5% Crimson Clover, 5% Annual Rye and 10% Common Vetch.

The ProTurf Sun/Shade mix is most appropriately used in areas that receive up to 60% shade during the day. Sun/Shade mix will also thrive in regular full sun exposure.
Rate of use: 16 pounds per 1,000 square feet.

ProTurf- Shade Mix
     49% Intrigue Chewing Fescue
     29% Minotaur Hard Fescue
       9% Celestial Creeping Red Fescue
       9% Black Sheep Fescue
